Nitya's research goal was to investigate whether cultural context and economic status predict internalized stigma levels, and to identify whether self-concept clarity has been adequately studied as a psychological moderator in this literature. Nitya found that higher collectivism was significantly associated with higher internalized stigma, and that economic status also significantly predicted stigma levels
